ABOUT US
About Dana:
I just recently graduated from Duke University in Durham, NC. An Economics major, I was hired
by a marketing agency called Ignition, Inc. They are based in Atlanta, GA, where Josh and I will be moving
after the wedding. I love sports (mostly basketball), and I especially love Mr. Josh. I can't even begin to explain how
excited I am to begin my life with him. I am positive we have many, MANY fun and interesting times ahead of us.
About Josh:
I just finished my second year at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR. I recently returned
from deployment in Iraq. I'm a Biology major and plan to pursue a career in medicine. I'm currently in the
process of transferring to Georgia State University. I love the great outdoors, sports, and the delicious Mexican
custard desert known as Flan, but most of all I love Dana with all the heart God affords me space to love anyone other
than Him. She is a dream.
THE PROPOSAL
When we got engaged:
July 22, 2005
How it happened:
Dana's story:
I was at work when I received a text message from Josh. The message read--"Go downstairs. There's a package
waiting for you." I went to the security desk and found a foam puzzle and two puzzle pieces. The first piece explained that I
had to follow the clues to retrieve the remaining pieces and that the last piece would lead me to a surprise. So, after work,
I followed the first clue to the subway station where I found the next one. That clue led me to another subway station, which
led me to a parking garage, and so on. The last clue sent me to Piedmont Park. When I arrived there, I found Josh under an
oak tree with the last puzzle piece. When all of the pieces were fitted together, the puzzle spelled out the word "LIFE."
Josh said to me, "You complete my life." He then dropped to one knee and proposed.
It was an extremely creative and romantic proposal, something every girl dreams of. I wasn't expecting to
see Josh for another couple of weeks (when he was making the trip to Atlanta to help me move my stuff to school), so seeing
him was a great surprise. It was definitely a weekend I will never forget!
Josh's story:
All week Dana believed that I had set up an online counseling sesssion for us and that she needed to keep
that date open. Sucker. Also, she was under the impression that her ring wouldn't be ready for another 6 to 8
weeks, mainly because that's what I told her. She knew I was going to ask, but that at least gave me the element of
surprise as to when. In addition to that, the night before my flight my lovely sister was admitted to the hospital for
signs of early labor (which all turned out to be fine and a wonderful story; I believe she has a website devoted to that),
leaving the possibility of me coming even less conceivable. So, when my parents arrived to be with my sisiter I decided
it would be safe for me to follow through, and I was off to Atlanta. I arrived and began setting the "trap", placing
the pieces in reverse order so if she got off of work early I wouldn't be caught short. I dropped the last piece off
at her work and left to wait for her in the park under a big oak tree. When she got there I handed her the last piece,
which as you know, showed that the puzzled spelled "life", and I looked at her and said "It looks like you've completled
my life." I then took a knee and proposed. I did set up a little camera out of sight so the moment has been caught
on tape.
